Badr is a historic site south-west of Madinah where the Battle of Badr took place on the 17th of Ramadan in the second year after the Hijra. It is a long but rewarding Ziyarat trip, usually done as a half-day to a full-day excursion from Madinah.
The Battle of Badr
A small Muslim force of around 300 men met a much larger army of Quraysh at the wells of Badr. By Allah’s help the Muslims were victorious, and the day is remembered in the Qur’an as the Day of Criterion (Yawm al-Furqan). The battle was a turning point for the young Muslim community.
